Medicare Part A (Hospital) and Part B (Doctor) is also known as original medicare and available to those 65 year of age or older, and those under 65 with a qualifying exception.
It's provided by the federal government and covers some of the costs associated with Medicare Parts A/B, but not all. I does not include prescription drug coverage Part D.
Medicare Advantage or Part C, is also commonly referred to as Medicare Complete. It combines the services covered under Original Medicare Part A and Part B into one single plan.
Most plans include Prescription Drug Coverage or Part D, and often offer additional benefits not offered by original medicare; such as prescription drugs and much more.
A Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) plan helps pay some of the out-of-pocket health care costs that are not covered under Original Medicare Parts A/B.
Medigap policies don't cover everything, such as long-term care, vision or dental care. Plans offered today DO NOT include any prescription drug coverage.
